There is often a misconception that payroll is automated by a system without any human assistance and that we merely just push a button to process salaries.
Payroll administration affects the morale of the employees, right down to the reputation of the business.
Boosting morale is a very important aspect of any business if the salary payments are inconsistent or late. This affects the livelihood of the employees and has a literal ripple effect on the employee’s morale at the workplace. It would mean, that funeral covers and medical aids which are debit orders might bounce at the end of the day.
Therefore the pressure of the morale rests solely on a payroll administrators shoulders each month. That is why setting and sticking to deadlines and time management is so important each month to ensure that the morale stays consistent. One of the most important but unseen roles of a payroll administrator is to always be friendly and have an empathetic face that welcomes queries.
The Payroll and Human Resource department are the watchdogs of the business; the administrator implements any new tax and legislation changes throughout the business, to ensure that the company is within the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) rules.
Therefore, at Northbound Financial Inc. we utilize the EJM payroll system which allows us to process salaries and make amendments when required before finalizing any payments and submission to the various departments such as the South African Revenue Service, Unemployment Fund and MIBFA council for employees.
So at the end of the day, payroll boosts that employee morale and this in turn improves productivity for the business!
